Advanced Spine & Rehab provides car accident injury therapies and solutions

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), car accidents are the number one cause of death among those aged 1 through 54 in the United States. In fact, in 2015 alone, a total of 22,441 drivers and their passengers died in motor vehicle crashes. More than half of the teens and adults aged 22 through 44-years-old who died in these crashes were not wearing their seatbelt at the time of the accident. In addition, an astounding number of people are injured every year because they were not buckled up when they were involved in a car accident.

Car Accidents and Injuries

The CDC reports that more than 2.5 million drivers and passengers were treated at the emergency room due to car accidents in 2015. Among those injured, young adult drivers and passengers aged 18 through 24 had the highest non-fatal injury rates for all adults.

Car Accidents and the Financial Burden

In addition to personal injury caused by car accidents, these accidents also place a significant financial burden on society. In 2010, for example, non-fatal car crash injuries to drivers and passengers resulted in more than $48 billion in lifetime medical and work loss costs.

Of course, car accidents are just that – an accident. As such, they are not something that you can predict and, in some cases, they can be impossible to avoid. By wearing a safety belt, you significantly reduce your chances of being seriously injured from a car accident. If you are involved in an accident, however, it is important to seek medical treatment immediately.
