Car Accident Injuries Examined by Advanced Spine

When involved in a car accident, there are a number of different types of injuries that you may sustain. The most common injuries resulting from a car accident, however, are head, back and neck and injuries.

Head Injuries

Not only are head injuries fairly common with car accidents, but they are also among the most serious type of injury. Drivers and passengers may hit their heads on dashboards, steering wheels, windows or other items in the car. This can result anything from a mild concussion to a coma or even a traumatic brain injury. Extensive treatment and long-term medical care is typically necessary to address these injuries.

Back Injuries

Back injuries are also common for people who have been involved in a car accident. Damage to the spinal cord can lead to nerve damage, resulting in a reduced control over the arms, hands, legs, feet and other parts of the body. In some cases, it can lead to permanent paralysis. Herniated disks are also common back injuries associated with car accidents. While this is generally less serious than spinal damage, it can lead to muscle weakness, numbness, tingling sensations and arm or leg pain.
