Advanced Spine discusses suboxone treatments and Heroin Addiction.

Herion is a drug that reaches people of all ages and income levels. In fact, in recent years, even those who have had historically low rates of heroin use have seen an increase in abuse. This includes women, people with a higher income and those who are privately insured. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the number of heroin users between the ages of 18 and 25 years had more than doubled in the last decade. Not only does heroin abuse have a negative impact on the quality of life of the abuser, but there is also a significant risk of death associated with heroin abuse.

Overdose Deaths and Heroin

According to the CDC, heroin-related deaths have more than quadrupled since 2010. In the one year spanning 2014 to 2015, heroin-related deaths increased by an astounding 20.6 percent. In 2015, nearly 13,000 people died from heroin use, with males between the ages of 25 to 44 having the highest heroin death rate at 13.2 per 100,000. This represents a 22.2 percent increase when compared to the previous year.
